Announcing the All-New Backstage Casting Platform

A Guide for Actors & Performers

We’re excited to announce that we’ll be launching an all-new online casting platform in a few weeks.

The new site will completely replace the current casting tools that you’ve been using at casting.backstage.com.

Benefits will include:

  • Advanced job-search options for easily finding new casting notices and job opportunities at lightning speed.
  • Easier-to-use Saved Search & Email Alert options that will help you find roles that are perfect for you.
  • Improved application options, so you can submit your resume faster to exactly the roles you want.
  • Gorgeous new profiles where you can showcase your photos, credits, skills, and reels better than ever before.
  • Google Maps integrated with all audition announcements.
  • Your current resume’s photos, embedded YouTube videos, and other key profile details (including your resume summary text, skills, and possibly your credits and education history, depending on how your current resume is formatted) will be automatically transferred over to the new site.

However, when the new casting platform launches, some of your current data will be not be transferred over:

  • Some of the text, links, credits, education history, and skills from your current resume may not transfer over and may not transfer over perfectly. When the site relaunches, you’ll need to check your resume and make any necessary corrections and additions to get your resume back into perfect shape.
  • Video and Audio files that you uploaded directly to your resume will not be transferred over.
  • Video and Audio files that you embedded on your resume using any source other than YouTube will not be transferred over. At launch, Backstage’s profiles will only be using YouTube for video and SoundCloud for audio.
  • If you have multiple resumes saved in your Backstage account, only ONE resume will be transferred over. The new site will only support one resume-profile per account. Backstage will be rolling out multiple-resume options and new tools for agents, managers, and stage parents to manage their multiple clients/kids profiles in the future, but not at launch.
  • If you’re a parent that’s currently using Backstage to manage the profiles and casting-submissions of all of your kids within a single Backstage.com account, please contact Backstage for more info on the alternative options that will be available at launch.
  • Your current Saved Casting Notices Inbox (favorited notices) will not be transferred.
  • Your current Submissions Outbox (application history) will not be transferred.
  • Your cover letters will not be transferred.
  • The stats on “Who Viewed My Resume” will not be transferred over.
  • Your current Saved Searches and Alerts will not be transferred over. You’ll need to create a new searches and alerts on the new site.

If you need access to any of this old data from your account, we’ll have an archive of the old casting website available for a limited time after the relaunch.

We’ll send you a link to the archived version of your old account soon after the site relaunches.

We think you’ll love the new casting site, and look forward to your feedback!
